The Heartbreak of Hallucinations
"I would sit beside her. 'Mom, there are no mice. It's just the blanket. Those are just tiny white dots. Remember? The one you used to call the Snow Cloud blanket?' But nothing I said mattered. The blanket she once loved had become a threat. A living nightmare wrapped in soft wool."

I am the guardian of her dignity.

I recently turned down a request to film my mother’s story with Parkinson’s and dementia, because it isn’t a story it’s a “daily struggle”. Because she can no longer give her consent, I’ve chosen to be her voice, not her image.

About Cristian

A Son Who Refused to Retreat

Cristian is not a medical professional or a caregiving expert. He’s something more valuable – a fellow traveler on this difficult road who chose to share his experience to provide hope and validation to those feeling lost in the relentless process of caregiving.

His mother, diagnosed with both Parkinson’s and Dementia, taught him that sometimes the greatest act of love is simply being present, even when the person you knew seems to be disappearing.
